Advanced Fabrication

This project culminated in a book-themed, multi-material sculptural display that functions as both a pedestal and curated book holder, presenting selected books as treasured objects elevated physically and conceptually within the structure. The artifact combines a handcrafted stained-wood base, a CNC-milled foam insert designed to cradle books, a bent and UV-printed metal corner detail, a 3D-printed feature element, and a laser-cut information plate.

Conceptually, the sculpture celebrates reading, personal identity, and collectorship through colour, material, and form, with soft pinks and purples reflecting my personal aesthetic while contrasting with the strength and permanence of the wood.

A role model, idol, heroine, superstar, inspired countless.
Developed through research through making, the design evolved in response to the behaviours, limitations, and affordances of each material, including the softness of foam, rigidity of metal, and structural integrity of wood.

By integrating woodworking, metalworking, post-printing bending, UV flatbed printing, CNC milling, 3D printing, and laser cutting, the project explores how personal narrative and object display can be expressed through multi-material fabrication while demonstrating how digital and analog processes intersect through critical making and technical craft.
